Our Juan de Fuca research team had an exciting encounter with a group of transient killer whales off Sheringham Point, BC. We were able to get to get to the the Sheringham lighthouse where three transient killer whales were searching for a harbour seal along the rocks and kelp beds just offshore.
We identified the three whales as T086A1 and her last years calf T086A1B. The other whale is T124A1, a roaming female that associates with various of transient killer whales. We were able to collect identification photographs of all whales present.
All photographs from today and taken from shore.
